Postdoctoral Scholars
at the University of Alabama at Birmingham participate in a full-time regimen of
advanced training and research under the supervision and direction of a faculty
research mentor. Training as a postdoctoral scholar includes all relevant
academic activities related to the preparation for a career in research or
academia, including research manuscript submissions, thorough review of the
literature, manuscript reviewing, attendance and presentation at seminars and
meetings.
The Office of
Postdoctoral Education (OPE) has been established to serve as a formal liaison
between Postdoctoral Scholars and the University during your postdoctoral
training period. Additionally, the Office provides administrative support
and educational & career development opportunities to enhance the overall
training experience. More information is available via the "UAB Office of
PD Ed." link to the left.
Though several
intramural funding resources are available, Postdoctoral Scholars are encouraged
to seek independent funding mechanisms to enhance their training experience.
Such opportunities may be identified via the "Funding Opportunities" link to the
left.
